--Stratos is the first Inmarsat Distribution Partner to provide BGAN Lease Service, which will support the GoC with mobile, broadband data and voice connectivity for mission-critical military applications--

Bethesda, Maryland (October 28, 2009) - Stratos Global Corporation, the leading global provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions, today announced it will provide the Government of Canada (GoC) with a dedicated channel (also known as a lease) on Inmarsat's BGAN mobile broadband satellite service. The agreement represents the industry's first ever provision of BGAN Lease Service.

This BGAN Lease Service, valued at more than $2 million CAD, is being provided by Stratos as part of the ITSB-Stratos contract established in October 2008 through a competitive RFP process. This contract facilitates the provision of a variety of Inmarsat mobile satellite products and services to all departments of the Canadian Federal Government under ITSB-managed mobile satellite services. Last year, Stratos also became the first company granted a license by Industry Canada to offer BGAN to Canadian businesses and government agencies.

Under the terms of the ITSB-Stratos contract for managed Inmarsat services, an ITSB client agency will utilize a dedicated channel on one of Inmarsat's new I-4 satellites for mobile broadband voice and data.

Stratos, an Inmarsat Distribution Partner, is one of the world's largest distributors of Inmarsat's BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) service, a mobile satellite offering that uses portable, lightweight terminals to provide video (guaranteed up to 384 kbps streaming), high-speed data (up to 492 kbps) and voice connectivity anywhere in the world. BGAN is ideally suited to enable communications in areas where terrestrial or cellular networks are damaged, congested, or non-existent. Stratos now boasts more than 10,000 BGAN activations in 185 countries.

BGAN has become an integral part of mobile satellite service deployments and specifically, this dedicated channel will provide the security and flexibility to support their mission-critical communications requirements.

Stratos President and CEO Jim Parm said, "Our BGAN Lease Service will enable ITSB clients to benefit from the high levels of performance and productivity that BGAN is successfully providing to thousands of other companies and government agencies worldwide. We look forward to working closely with ITSB clients to demonstrate the many convenient aspects of BGAN leasing. This represents the latest example of how Stratos is making mobile broadband satellite solutions easy to use and efficient to own."

Since its introduction in late 2005, BGAN from Stratos has been widely adopted by media organizations, military agencies, first responders and professionals in many other industries worldwide. More information on BGAN from Stratos is available at www.thepowerofbgan.com.
