Stratos to Support Volvo Ocean Race as Official Sponsor of Mobile Satellite Services

Bethesda, Maryland (March 10, 2008) - Stratos Global Corporation, the leading global provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions, today announced it will serve as the official mobile satellite services sponsor of the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-09, the world's premier offshore yachting event.

Inmarsat's FleetBroadband service - powered by Stratos mobile satellite services, Inmarsat satellites and Thrane & Thrane satellite equipment - will connect the boats with the race organizer and bring live video of the race in high-definition television (HDTV) to race fans worldwide.

For the first time this year, a non-competing media specialist will work aboard each yacht to ensure the best video footage and interviews are transmitted back to shore via FleetBroadband.
